About KCSGA

Our Mission

Our mission is to promote and foster the golf traditions of fun, fellowship and friendly competition and to support, through golfing activities, local community-based organizations that strengthen the economic, social and educational well-being of our community.

The Kansas City Swingers Golf Association began organizing in the fall of 1981. The inaugural golf league began play in the summer of 1982 at Minor Park Golf Course. Swope Memorial Golf Course became the host league venue in 1991.

The club’s organizers were Simon Cole, Al Donahue, Kermit Hamilton, Charlie Jackson, Floyd Matthews, Harvey Phelps, Jim Randle and Eddie Qualls. Organizers originally came up with two club names, the Players and the Swingers. Swingers was chosen as the official name and later expanded to the Kansas City Swingers.

The KCSGA has evolved into a diverse organization. Members continue an avid pursuit of the game of golf, and maintain and support positive community outreach.

Over the years, KCSGA has become a prominent part of the golfing community. The club has been a member of the Southwest Regional Golf Association, Inc. which consists of 15 black golf clubs located in seven surrounding states. The club participates in many local and regional tournaments. KCSGA hosts annual spring and fall tournaments to support our community and youth.
